| Monday, October 29, 2001 I've been sick since Friday morning. I don't know if it's a cold or if it’s the flu but I know it's taking it's sweet time blowing over. Then again, it probably didn't help that I went to Six Flags Great America on Saturday for Fright Fest. I thought about backing out but I figured that whatever I had would be gone by then and besides we were going to celebrate the Shin twins' birthday. It was fun even though it was freezing. How these Midwesterners can enjoy an amusement park at near freezing temperatures is beyond me. I invited Lindsay and our U of C friends to come with but the boys had already planned a football game so it was just Lindsay, the church boys (Rob, James, Harold, Ravee, Ben), and me. I was worried that she wouldn't be comfortable with my church buddies but it was alright. She had fun threatening to tell them stories from our U of C days… and she knows everything! It's scary when someone knows that much about you… on the flip side, it's great reminiscing about the madness too. We got to the park a bit late so we were only able to ride a few rides. In the spirit of Halloween, we checked out one of the haunted houses. The boys thought it'd be funny to try to scare me while we were waiting in line. I supposedly set myself up by admitting that I startle easily. That's what I get for being honest/vulnerable with those punks. I'm such a scaredy cat! Every group had to walk through the haunted house in a single-file line and your hands had to be on the shoulder of the person in front of you at all times. Rob had fun trying to push me into all of the props. Apparently, James did the same thing with Lindsay so the twins are more alike than they'd like to think. Ugh. My throat is raw; I'm congested; I can't hear too well in my left ear. Whine! I bought two packs of Cold-eeze today. You're supposed to take these lozenges on the onset of your cold for maximum effectiveness but I figured they'd be better than cough drops. Note to self: never buy the cherry flavored ones again.
