Sunday, June 15, 2003 Sweet and Sour Went with the old Bethel crew to see the musical The Lion King. The set design was amazingly creative (of course)and the costumes were breathtaking. In case you were wondering, the storyline stays pretty true to the movie but I was startled regardless. At the beginning of the elephant graveyard scene, I jumped which Rob later claimed was the best part of the show. Always glad to give the gift of laughter... at my expense. So the popular question was if I was "okay". The standard, "Yeah, I'm fine" was given of course. If asked for an honest answer (and if I trust you), you'd get a different response. For now, let's leave it at "yes and no." It was unsettling to be in a group setting. If I didn't think about it, it would've been easy to just hang out. But I was thinking about it. Imagine the fun to be had when trying to figure out how to be intentional but not cruelly intentional or naively misleading. Throw in a swirling mess of emotions and try to pull off a "normal" facade. I can't (and I won't) describe everything that I'm feeling but I enjoyed tonight and got some reassurance out of it. I find a tremendous amount of comfort in the appearance that things are okay. That's a good sign. Sunday, June 07, 2003 I just got back from watching Finding Nemo. What a fantastic and adorable movie!! Of course, I insisted to see it on a digital (DLP) screen which meant waiting over two hours for the next show... and in comes the suggestion to kill that time with dinner. In negotiations, contingency planning is crucial. ^_^ Oooh! Aaah! Animation has come a long way since Bugs. Don't get me wrong. I still love the Road Runner and Marvin the Martian but the beautiful colors and realism in today's animation justifies watching cartoons as a twenty-six year old. Oh and did I mention that they compel "grown-up" purchases? After seeing this flick in digital, I wanted to run over a block to the Best Buy and buy a plasma tv. Sigh. If only I had enough in my checking account to cover that little expense along with my rent and other necessities. That money thing has a knack for killing spontaneous urges. |
