Me vs. Softball

Yeah....so on 4/30/04 I was practicing with my intermural team for softball and well.....I was pitching and the ball came back. I got a nice line drive to directly to my left eye. I ended up with a black eye and 9 stitches. My sunglasses saved me from losing my eye and having a broken socket and needing surgery. It really didn't hurt after the pain of the ball hitting my head. I didn't feel anything while I was lying on the ground with the shirt soaking up the blood lol (by the way head wounds really really really bleed). I only started feeling real pain, nausea, dizziness, etc.... after the cat scan and boy was I offering up a vein for drugs lol and I hate shots. Enjoy the pics.

This is me before pitching softball.

This is me after being release from the ER.

(see how my hair is back behind my ear....it has a redish tinge...its covered with dried blood..that was so fun to get out.)

Morning After

My eye swelled up over night and I couldn't open it for the day.

This is about 2 days after the ER.

Shows my stiches pretty well. Oh and got my eye open after soaking it with warm water for about 2 hrs.

This is about a week after the ER.

The black eye is starting to heal.

This about 2 weeks after the ER.

Adam and I took the stiches out and the bruise is more or less gone.

Everything healed up nicely, I just hava a scar now. I am thrilled that I only have the scar and that was the worse of it. I was told had I not been wearing the sunglasses that I probably would have lost my eye, had several reconstructive surgeries, and not had finished the semester of classes.

Thanks to everyone who helped. My brother Adam for going in the ambulence with me, Kari for calling me out of work, Dave for taking my truck home and lending my head your shirt, the EMTs, the Doctor for doing and awesome job on the stitching & Petro and others for coming and seeing me at the hostpital.
