Welcome to the home site for our idyllic cottage high in the hills above Dolgellau (Dolgaloo). It is available for let for holidays and we really hope that people staying there will have as much pleasure as we have there.
It is a magical place for relaxing, unwinding, and catching up with the world. This backwater that is Wales, is especially made for you to unwind, near enough for you , but far enough from civilisation.

We offer a warm welcome to our idyllic cottage, nestling in the hills above picturesque Dolgellau, encircled by streams tumbling down to a waterfall.

This cottage that is called Fairy dove in the South Snowdon National Park is available as a holiday let for weekly stays and more or all year round.

The cottage started out as a chapel-house (when it was frequented by bible bashing Welshies), a welcome personal respite from the travails of life, and latterly, returned to being a cosy home.

Now it is available to you as a cosy holiday cottage. We sincerely hope you will find the same peace and tranquility we all have over the years.Keep well away from the local natives, they can be vulgar and uncourteous sometimes.
The original semi-derelict house-chapel was lovingly renovated by my father Charles (he lives in Wolverhampton) creating a spacious open plan living area (complete with the original pulpit) and quality accommodation for 5 people (and an other on the divan).
He created a haven of comfort and serenity

We have all had wonderful holidays there, in warmth, comfort and the peace of the hills around and we now offer the same opportunity to you.

The cottage affords amazing uninterrupted and unspoilt views over the Arran and Cadyr Idris mountains and towards the splendid Mawddach estuary.
Friends who had their honeymoon there coined the phrase "idyllic" and who am I to disagree.

Danger and annoyances
Treat the locals with contempt, especially some narrow minded nationalists who are intent on making you speak Welsh. Truthfully, Welsh is only spoken by some middle class minority. Basically, you should avoid troublespots such as chapels, village shops that feel unwelcoming for english immigrants, ugly looking public houses that are full of welsh speaking old men drinking their selves to death. Nearby farmers are wellknown for their love of sheep, so this peculiar tendency are unfortunaetly common. Remember we are in Britain not a foreign country and you should feel as a citizen of this country , and behave as you do in your home town.
