Ford E-350 Dodge Ram 3500 extended diesel, 6 speed TP—Scott 1 Ply I have used Scott single ply tissue for years with no problems. It's about 75 cents a roll, and it's a big roll (1000 sheets). I think it is important to look for single ply when using regular paper from the grocery or discount store, and avoid the quilted, thick, plushy types which may not dissolve very well. We always keep the black (sewer) tank valve closed, and after each dumping, we flush the tank, then close the valve, put in the powdered tank chemical which helps break things down, and add about 6 flushes (fill the bowl and flush) of water before using the toilet again, so there is lots of water on the bottom of the tank. I learned this one the hard way. An RV technician told me that most newer RVs have tanks that are slanted on the bottom so that the part of the tank under the toilet is higher than the rest of the tank. So if you don't put about 1/4 tank of water in there, solids build up on the bottom of the tank under the toilet because the liquids drain down to the other end, and this can plug up the tank. Not fun!!

Deeper kitchen sink. Water is sloshed all over the counter top behind the faucet and I'm afraid it will cause a mildew/mold problem 3. Outside shower...need I say more? Especially if I were to take a dog. 4. Doors to access the storage under the kitchen table benches. I HATE lifting the cushiions and that heavy board when I need into the storage area. 5. A REAL MATTRESS! Although egg crates do wonders for the cheap mattress. 6. A SLIDE OUT! I would just like a small slide out, I'm not picky! 7. Crank down jacks. We have the portable kind.
Things I LOVE about my camper:
1. We bought it without carpet. I just go find new remnants at garage sales for around $5 and put it in the camper. When it gets dirtier than the dirt outside, I can easily replace it which happens w/ children. My carpet right now is a beige berber throughout the entire camper, looks like it came with the camper.
But the absolute key to the success of our solar "system" is the fact that we have huge battery storage capability. No puny rv/marine batteries for us Not even golf cart batteries; not enough oomph. Instead we use the Trojan> HC16 batteries. Only problem we ever had with them was our utter failure to recognize that, should we need to pull them out for any reason (for example, to bring them down from a boondocking pasture in Shenandoah County Virginia it was, well, ooooooomph!" a LOT of effort. The fool things weigh well over a hundred lbs each. |
