Star Trek MicroMachines Part 2
Galoob also produced Limited Edition Collector's Sets for Star Trek vehicles, three Limited Edition Collector's Sets were produced, and each set contained 16 vehicles. A separate Collector's Set of 9 vehicles was also produced, containing the 9 vehicles from the 1st Series releases.
Star Trek Limited Edition Collector's Set 1
This collection was released in 1993. It features the following vehicles:
-
USS Enterprise NCC-1701, Klingon Battlecruiser, Romulan Bird of Prey, USS Excelsior, Klingon Bird of Prey, USS Reliant, Klingon Vor'cha Attack Cruiser, TNG Shuttlecraft, Romulan Warbird, USS Enterprise-D, Borg Ship, Ferengi Marauder, Runabout, Space Station Deep Space Nine, Cardassian Galor Warship, and USS Enterprise-A.
The special vehicle for Collector's Set 1 is the USS Enterprise NCC-1701-A, which first appeared in Star Trek IV.
Star Trek Limited Edition Collector's Set 2
Released in 1995, Collector's Set 2 features the following vehicles:
-
USS Enterprise-B, USS Farragut, Federation Space Dock, Space Station K-7, USS Defiant, USS Stargazer, Shuttlecraft Galileo II, Romulan Scout Ship, USS Enterprise-C, SS Botany Bay, USS Enterprise-D (with detachable saucer section), USS Grissom, Vulcan Shuttle Surak, Future USS Enterprise-D (with 3 nacelles), USS Pasteur, and Klingon Negh'var Warship.
The special vehicles for Collector's Set 2 are the Future USS Enterprise-D, USS Pasteur, and Klingon Negh'var Warship. These three vehicles were featured in the TNG series finale "All Good Things..." (TNG). Future USS Enterprise-D has three warp nacelles, instead of the usual two on most starships. Since the actual USS Enterprise-D was destroyed in Star Trek Generations, the Future USS Enterprise-D could conceivably belong to an alternate timeline. The actual name for the Klingon vehicle is Klingon Battlecruiser, as shown in the above picture. But I have renamed it to Klingon Negh'var Warship, since this was later established during the DS9 series.
The description for USS Defiant on the back of the box reads:
'"USS Defiant" - Starship that disappeared into a spatial interphase. This interphase caused mass insanity among the human crew prior to the ship's disappearance.'
I believe that the description refers to the
TOS-era USS Defiant, and does not refer to the DS9-era USS Defiant which came with this set.

Also, the description for
USS Farragut reads:
'"USS Farragut" - Starship that was James T. Kirk's first assignment after leaving Starfleet Academy. In 2257, 200 crew members of the USS Farragut were killed by the dikronium cloud creature found at planet Tycho IV.'
Again, the description refers to the
TOS-era USS Farragut, and does not refer to the TNG-era USS Farragut which appeared in Star Trek Generations and came with this set.
Here's another picture of Limited Edition Collector's Set 2
Star Trek Limited Edition Collector's Set 3
Released in 1997 in conjuction with the movie Star Trek First Contact, Collector's Set 3 features the following vehicles:
-
Bajoran Ship, USS Voyager, Cardassian Obsidian, Kazon Mother Ship, Jem'Hadar Ship, Numiri Ship, Kazon Raider, USS Saratoga, Kazon Fighter, Space Dock Shuttle, Kalestron Ship, Miradorn Ship, Maquis Ship, VOY Shuttlecraft, Karemma Ship, and USS Enterprise-E.
The special vehicle for Collector's Set 3 is the USS Enterprise NCC-1701-E, which first appeared in Star Trek First Contact. There is no doubt that Collector's Set 3 was released in conjuction with Star Trek First Contact, as the movie was a big hit, and Galoob obviously wanted to cash in on the movie's popularity.
If you think that you would have the entire Star Trek MicroMachines collection if you purchased all three Limited Edition Collector's Sets, you're wrong. You would still lack the following Star Trek vehicles :
- STG Klingon BoP, HMS Bounty Klingon BoP, Bajoran Solar Sail, Array, Kazon Torpedo.

Living in Singapore, I had bought several of the 3-vehicle packs as well as Collector's Sets 1 & 2. As a result, I have numerous duplicates of the same vehicles, and I blame Galoob for leading me into spending more than what is necessary for collecting only one of each vehicle. From what I know, Collector's Set 3 never made it to Singapore. I've never seen it. Somehow, nobody in Singapore wants to import Star Trek MicroMachines merchandise anymore, although I am obviously an enthusiastic customer.
Ultra-rare Vehicles
Star Trek Cloaked Vessels: Cloaked USS Defiant, Cloaked Klingon Bird of Prey, Cloaked Ferengi Marauder
I've never seen the Cloaked Vessels collection before. They probably never made it to Singapore. It is curious why Galoob chose to produce a Cloaked Ferengi Marauder since, to my knowledge, no Ferengi Marauder has ever cloaked in any Star Trek episode.
USS Excelsior NX-2000 (variant)
Here's a comparison between the USS Excelsior NCC-2000 and its NX-2000 variant. First appearing in Star Trek III, the USS Excelsior was originally an experimental vessel, testing out a transwarp drive. Ultimately the experiments were deemed unsuccessful, and the USS Excelsior was outfitted with standard warp drive and redesignated NCC-2000 as seen in Star Trek VI.

The original decals of "NX-2000" was said to have lead to a dispute between Galoob and Paramount, resulting in the relabelling of the decal to "NCC-2000". I wonder what could have caused the uproar, Afterall,
USS Excelsior with designation NX-2000 was seen in ST3, ST4 and ST5. Perhaps some George Takei loyalists insisted seeing the USS Excelsior the way it was under Captain Sulu's command in Star Trek VI?
The USS Excelsior NX-2000 variant came with early releases of the 1st series three-packs and the Collector's Set of 9 vehicles, all 9 belonging to the 1st series release.
