ETERNAL EVIL Yet another bad wig for Karen Black
Wearing enough lip gloss to grease up every engine in Detroit (as usual), Karen Black sports what must be her ten thousandth goofy wig in this movie, leaving me to wonder what her real hair looks like, since I don't believe anybody's ever seen it. How much more time can elapse before she plays Medusa?
Black plays a sorceress-type chick who teaches an dissatisfied Montreal TV commercial director (hey, if I were an Anglophone living in Montreal, I'd be dissatisfied too) how to astrally project himself. This he does, but finds that when he sleeps, he projects himself against his will and commits savage acts against people in his life. ("He looks like he swallowed a bomb," comments the coroner of one victim)
Originally titled The Blue Man. No, not the GREEN Man, that's Peter Steele.
Directed by George Mihalka, who gave us My Bloody Valentine (which you could tell was Canadian because of a prominent case of Moosehead in one scene) and the killer-with-a-belt-buckle extravaganza Psychic.
Nothing too exceptional here, although it made me think astral projection would be pretty damn cool. Hey, I know a witch - maybe she can teach me. |
