THE GLOVE
Whitesploitation at its finest

This one ain't a horror movie by any stretch, but there it is, right between The Godsend and Ghost Town, so I checked 'er on out and here ya go.

John Saxon stars here, giving it his all but nevertheless delivering ridiculously bad, hard-boiled voice-overs like "My size 10's took a pounding, but I found her." He's a bounty hunter who we see on the job a few times, roughing people up and chasing them around...but then he gets a really big job. There's a big, black man out there who gears up in body armor, puts on these steel-plated leather gloves and beats the living crap out of some really unlucky white folks.

I love the description on the back, which introduces the villain as "250 pounds of the biggest, meanest, angriest black man alive". I also love how this titular glove (don't let the cover fool you, there are no spikes on this glove) appears to give its wearer not only the power to deliver very painful punches - which I expected - but the super-strength necessary to punch through walls and rip doors off of hinges.

The villain's played by Rosey Grier, who plays the blues with even less soul than I do. I liked one scene where he entices a strange kid into his apartment and gets the little tyke to sit on his lap so he can put his arm around him and get him to play with his instrument. Yes, you're pure evil when you make kids collaborate with you on soulless blues.

Speaking of soulless - hilariously bad opening theme song. It's called "The Glove" and sounds like it's sung by Pat Boone. It's gotta be heard to be believed. The closing theme song is pretty bad too - called "The Game Of Love", which you might notice is just "The Glove" with a pesky "ame Of" stuck in there.

Not to be missed by fans of cheese. Also known as Lethal Terminator, which might have fooled one or two people out there into thinking that this is an extremely rare Gibson/Schwarzennegger collaboration.
