LITTLE WITCHES Will this much eye candy lead to eye decay?
Could Little Witches possibly be a sillier little movie than the movie it's most often compared to, The Craft? The answer is yes, and it doesn't even have the way cool snakes-everywhere scene.
However, what Little Witches lacks, it does its best to make up for in costuming, and lack thereof. Call me a sick bastard if you will, but I sure do like those Catholic schoolgirl uniforms :) And unlike the girls in The Craft, these ones take off their clothes (bigsmile).
The cover depicts an overly-lit closeup of a chick's face, who I'd assumed was Fairuza Balk (just look at the face, man - looks just like her). Well, it ain't her.
This all-girls Catholic school has a number of their students stay over Easter break, when they find an ancient spellbook and decide to call up the devil. Led by sexpot Sheeri Rappaport (who gets a hilarious rebuff of her advances from a would-be hunky construction worker), they all strip down naked and get to work, except of course for the Good Girl who decides to sit this one out.
Exactly why they'd want to summon up the devil isn't even hinted at - these movies never really try to explain it, but I think it's time we heard one explanation. I mean really - if you actually believe you might succeed, you'd think that you'd a) take precautions against him frying you on the spot, and b) try to get him to do stuff for ya that's worth the inevitable consequences (e.g. you're gonna go to Hell, Catholic girl). And if you don't really believe, what are you doing prancing around naked and chanting in Latin?
Features Zelda Rubenstein as a blind nun with a whole lot of paintings and photographs in her room (!), and Jennifer Rubin (who you might remember as the sexy android from Screamers) as the foxiest nun I've ever seen.
I dunno, there's just not much going on here at all, except for the obvious eye candy (which includes Clea DuVall from The Faculty, who's pretty cute in kind of an off-kilter way, and yes, you get to see her naked). Skip it unless you're even more into those Catholic schoolgirl uniforms than I am. |
