Garden Party Series

Let's begin with some pictures from my Garden Party collection. All the designs on this series are things that I have found in my own gardens.

The background for all the pendants, is a Polymer Clay shape that has a design pressed into the surface. Then I cut tiny pieces of wire to go into the design lines. Press all those tiny pieces down into the clay and "paint" the inside spaces with some pretty Mica Powders.

Next I bake the piece and when it's cool, pour a coating of epoxy on the top. The backs are either left plain or have a thin layer of mica shift clay baked on with my shop initials(KR) impressed in a corner.

I can then either drill holes for jump rings, wire wrap the whole thing or have already put a bail in the top.

In the Maple Leaf penants pictured above, the same colors of Mica Powders have been used on both leaves. There is a marked difference in the intensity of the color when painted on a dark background compared to a light colored background.

Depending on the picture subject, I can use sterling wire, copper or red brass.

My next efforts will be to try making earrings to match the pendants
