The Dragon-Blooded: Common Knowledge

Princess Mnemon Anna

Anna is the only Exalted child of King Alexius, and is therefore his heir. She is betrothed to the dynast V’Neef Yy, though she has no love for him. Anna spends most of her time at her family’s estate in Nexus, where she is a prominent figure, well known among all social classes. She keeps a diary of her activities, in which she also records interesting news she hears about. Anna is a much sought-after society guest, being both beautiful and charming, though being an Exalted of the Air Dragon is what really sets her apart.

King Mnemon Alexius

Alexius is the autocratic ruler of the land of Grecia (pr. ‘Greh-see-ah’, lit. “Land of Grace”) to the south of the Scavenger Lands, a former Imperial Satrapy. He was the last Satrap until he declared himself King upon the withdrawal of the Imperial garrison. He is an Air-aspected Dragon Blooded, and is renowned for his intellect and shrewd political maneuvering. Grecia has been without a significant army for almost a year now, which has left it vulnerable to raids from neighbouring lands. The Arzeckhi to the east are perhaps the greatest threat. To this end, Alexius is in the process of forming the ‘Federation’, an alliance of like-minded states that wish to be free from the threats of both the Empire and the barbarians. It is rumoured Alexius has even gone so far as to invite a Deathlord into the Federation. Although this is by no means certain, what is well known is that he has a Deathknight ambassador at his court. Which Deathlord this Abyssal serves is not well known.

General V’Neef Yy

Yy is the commander of the Terracotta Legion, the former 23rd Imperial Legion, which was sent to bring the rebellious King Alexius to heel. Instead, Yy made an alliance with the king, which included betrothing Yy to Princess Anna and thus making him, to all intents and purposes, second in line to the throne. The V’Neef family has only existed for a little over 60 years, and Yy is older than that – his family name comes from a political marriage to a V’Neef patrician that he arranged for himself forty years ago to get into the Dynasty. His father was an outcaste, and had no House, though he was still influential in the Realm. He died shortly before Yy’s marriage. Yy’s mother died long before that, and history has nothing to say of her.

Colonel Cathak Arech

Arech is General Yy’s closest adviser, and is renowned everywhere the Empire has influence as a brilliant strategist and tactician, as well as one of the greatest chess players in the world. He is responsible for all of the military successes of the 23rd Legion since Yy became its commander. Like Yy, Arech is a Fire-aspected Dragon Blooded. The two have been friends since they were at the House of Bells Military Academy as children, and have served together throughout their military careers.
