22nd day of Resplendent Water
At last! A bit of interest to enliven the tediosity of the council. The Armagha and the Zeons have brought in individuals to speak for them, and what a fascinating pair. One is a handsome wood-aspect from Lookshy, whom I fancy is most certainly a spy. The other is a charismatic stranger from, I believe, the north, who speaks as well as any of my father’s courtiers. He is by far the more intriguing, and I look forward to our future meetings.

I can scarcely bring myself to write these words, but I neither can I force myself to sleep, so dreadful an event has overtaken us. A messenger from Constant reached us tonight, while I was chairing the council, and spoke words in my ear that pierced my heart to its very core: “Your father is dead.”
I have lived in fear of those words for most of my life, but never more so than after his fateful decision to break with the Realm. Alas, it must assuredly be the vengeance of the Empire that has fallen upon him. And I, myself, am now in more peril than ever.
I must ride to Constant tomorrow to take over the administration. I am full of doubt as to my ability to follow in my father’s footsteps, but I am the only choice if we are to establish a dynasty of our own.
I pray to my ancestors for their guidance.
24th day of Resplendent Water
I had hoped that my return to Grecia would be a happy occasion. Though I am pleased to see the woodlands that mark the northern border of my father’s, no, my lands, I cannot afford to dawdle for even one instant, so great is the need for haste. Oh, that I was as tireless as the Earth, that we need not rest the night.
I would say goodnight, but I fear I will have no such thing, yes?
