DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT: I have 16 students in my 2nd period class. They will be divided in 4 groups and each group will be assigned with one objective. One group of students will work on some primary sources (e.g. Rutherford's diagram for gold foil experiment) on atomic structure when they are working on ATOMIC STRUCTURE TIMELINE. Once they are done they will make notes on important information and make a poster on ATOMIC STRUCTURE TIMELINE. The notes will be copied and distributed to other students. They will give a presentation on that topic to the whole class and they will make a worksheet for others. 2nd group of student will work on "WHY ATOMIC STRUCTURE IS IMPORTANT TO KNOW AND DIFFERENT PACKING OF ATOMS. They will prepare notes for others, will make a poster,and give a presentation. Finally they will make a worksheet for others. The third group of students will work on PERIODIC TABLE and the relation between different atomic property. The last group will work on the DIAGRAM OF A ATOM AND ISOTOPE. The last two groups will do the same job as other groups have done. LEARNING OBJECTIVE: 1. Students will be able to use technology and have their yahoo ID. They will learn how to send email and work on their own bookmark. 2. The students will learn about primary source and they will be able to use some primary sources when they will learn about the TIMELINE for atomic structure. 3. The students will learn about isotope, the application of isotope in real life by using some real time data. 4. Finally, they will learn how to interpret a periodic table. 5. The students will compare different pattern of packing of atoms also. STATE STANDARDS AND BENCHMARK: As a result of their activities in grades 9-12, all students should develop an understanding of atomic structure. CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT: I don't have computers in my classroom and I am taking my students to library to use those computers. They will be working about two weeks on this project. First week they will do research and second week is review and presentation week.I am using PEER TO PEER INSTRUCTION method. Before going to library we developed behavior plan to facilitate the cooperative groups. |
