We found Baby Cat at our apartment in Bowie the very cold winter of 1999. We were feeding about 8 or 9 wild tabby cats at the time, and they all shunned her (maybe because her fur was black and she looked different). She was probably aobut 3 months old at the time, and she was starving to death. It took several months for her to begin to trust us. Baby gave birth to two litters. The first one was when she was still feral. We think one of those kittens grew up to be Sweetie, Little Man's mom! Sweetie lives with my parents now. Baby's second birth of 6 tabby kittens occured inside our little 1 bedroom apartment! We found homes for all six, spayed Baby Cat, and let her back outside just as we moved away to Iowa. My friend Jen took care of her for two years while we were gone. Finally, we came back to Bowie and officially adopted Baby. I think the malnutrition Baby underwent when she was little affected her growth, because her body is very tiny and her head is even smaller! She is rounding out well now, and she spends most of her time indoors. Baby Cat loves to cuddle and play attack the toy. She is still very shy, but extremely happy nontheless. |
