Henna is name for shrub called Lawsonia inermis. This is known as mehndi, it is 8 to 10 feet high shrub. The parts of shrub are used for medicine and cosmetic. Fashion of tattoos made it more popular because the green leaves of this shrub release rust color, when crushed and applied on. The best part is, that the stains or designs applied with Henna paste are temporary. Henna art is the art of applying Henna paste on the skin and creating designs. It was not as popular as it is today in Europe or in other parts of the world. Like other culture or fashion this art has made its way to west and Europe. It was not long ago, when Hollywood made it more popular in West. It is very beautiful art and has already taken place of Tattoos also, reason for that is, it is safe and not permanent. Henna stain lasts for two to three weeks on the applied part of skin and eventually the stain fades away. In India it is applied to the brides on the hands and feet one or two days before the wedding ceremony day. |
