US Cops Hunt Down Ugandan Engineer By Davis Weddi UNITED STATES POLICEofficers have arrived in the country searching for a Ugandan engineer wanted in the US over the embezzlement of more than US$ 75,000 and money laundering. Engineer Joshua Muwanga was arrested last week by local detectives in connection with obtaining a second passoprt under different names. he was reportedly picked up from his Entebbe residence and detained at central police Station in Kampala. Muwanga was reportedly an employee of the federal department where he worked in condtruction of prisons, before vanishing. The CID boss, also acting assistant inspector general of Police, Ms. Elizabeth Kuteesa, yesterday confirmed the presence of US Police Officers in the country, saying they were following a Red Notice from the International Police Organization (Interpol). The Red Notice indicated that Muwanga was wanted in the US as a fugitive and suspected to be in Uganda. Kutesa said that by that notice, there was a warrant of arrest for Muwanga. Muwanga willbe produced in a Kampala court to answer charges of obtaining a second passport in different names. He reportedly called himself Serwanga in the second passport. ENDS. |
