| AGE: 22 YEAR/MAJOR: Senior (will graduate December '03), Journalism and Public Communications (Minor: Criminal Justice) HOMETOWN: Anchorage, AK HOBBIES/INTERESTS: I love reading, working out, and spending time with my sisters and my awesome boyfriend. I watch Friends and Sex and the City religiously : ). I used to write for the Northern Light, and I last year I was the editor-in-chief of UAA's True North magazine. I am also a member of the UAA Honors Program and UAA's chapter of Golden Key International Honor Society. WHY I JOINED THIS GROUP: I started it!!! UAA needed an expansion of Greek Life - choices choices choices (and diversity!). A balance was needed between the number of fraternities and the number of sororities, and I also think a little friendly competition would help out the Greek community (Nick always tells me that 'competition breeds excellence' - I agree.) Since UAA is becoming more of a traditional campus, I think the expansion of Greek life will help to attract and retain students - they need something to feel connected to, and Greek organizations are great for that. Also, I think that there is a greek organization out there for almost everyone, and UAA just needed another group to fulfill the needs and interests of girls who weren't finding what they were looking for in existing campus groups. I think that with the addition of Alpha Sigma Alpha this year, UAA women interested in joining a sorority will be able to find their niche in at least one of the great organizations on campus. GOALS FOR THE GROUP: I would love to reach our chapterhood goal of 50 members by the end of the semester. We are scheduled to install as a chapter in Spring 2004- exciting!! FUN FACT: I love candy; I sing in the shower, and I dance in my car every day on my way to work. : ) |
