Shaikh Zaid Bin Sultan Al Nahayyan - August 6th, 1966
On August 6th, 1966, H. H. Shaikh Zaid bin Sultan al Nahayyan
became the ruler of Abu Dhabi. The 1964 definitive issue were withdrawn from
sale and re-issued with a new currency “Fils” and “Dinar” on October 1st,
1966, with Shaikh Shakhbut’s portrait defaced by three horizontal bars and
surcharged “Fils” only in (40np, 50np, and 75np) and four horizontal bars
with expressing a new value in (5np - 30np, & 1r - 10r), on the 10r. the
value is obliterated by bars. The The overprinting was done by Arabian
Printing and Publishing House in Bahrain.
1966 (1 Oct.). New Currency.
1964 definitive issue surcharged with “fils” and "Dinar" in English
and Arabic, with Shaikh Shakhbut's portrait defaced by three or four bars.
