| We sent out our roving reporter Heidi to find out what was going on around Pittsburgh. About a month later she came back with this piece, a dollar short and a day late. Oh well, good try Heidi. Disregard the dates and crap... (scroll down) | |||||

The B3's (cont.) | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|
The
sexy smooth voiced Queen B Jordan took time for her busy schedule to
ingest way too much caffeine and talk with me about her band,
Pittsburgh’s own B3’s, the results are as follows intertwined
with my own commentary, of course.
J: “Comedy is Stu cooking eggs naked the next morning at 7am.” The band has had many incarnations since it’s beginning in 1996, the reaming original members are Joelle on drums, Greg on bass, and Justin as lead guitarist and songwriter. The infamous harmonica genius Stu began playing with the band on the “Devil’s Blue Beat” album. The three femyle vocalists known as “The Queen Bs” were his own invention. Jen, Jordan and Teresa filled these positions and Killabrew on sax, Fullmer on trombone and the mischievous but lovable Ben on trumpet rounds out the band’s line up. They expect their new album to be out in roughly six weeks, and MP3 files of previously released material can be found on Napster and their web site B-3s.com which provide an excellent opportunity to sample their unique and jivin’ sound. The web site also displays more photos (the naked ones of Stu cooking) and merchandise can be ordered if you like the MP3s (subliminal message : buy their crap, they are my friends). At the end of March they are playing what they have affectionately dubbed the “Severe Winter Storm Tour 2001 AKA the 3 Day Rust Belt Promotional Tour”. I am told that if they do get snowed in anywhere they plan to eat their sax player to stay alive, sorry Killabrew. The dates are as follows: Erie PA March 30th Syracuse NY March 31st Rochester NY April 1st
Check their web site for the details of venues and prices. In addition to these shows they will be playing here in Pittsburgh on St. Patrick’s Day with The Traditionals at Gooski’s, as well at Cool Pepper’s Hot House with the King Jango Band on Mat 18th. Along with great music their live shows should be attended for the never ending list of amusing antics that occur, including but not limited to: Greg smoking a joint with his dick (or so Stu says), Stu himself in gold lame briefs, and of course underage bikini girls reading erotic hiku. J: “We had this black Labrador once, that ate alllll our chickens.”
