No Almighty Love Noise is not what you hear coming from the confessional every time the priest needs the alter boy's help finding the kneeler. In fact if you hear Almighty Love Noise coming from the confessional, then you have reason to go to church ...     (scroll down)

Almighty Love Noise came together in 1997, formed by Swan, Nami, Russo, latter on the band added Fready and John Clancy to complete their sound. Like all great rock bands most of the members only have one name, (joke). However, these guys don't need full names, the music is distinctive and plenty  memorable -- you won't forget them easily. Their sound can be described as many things it's versatile enough to put them into several catagories. You can call them straight Metal, Indie Rock, Hard Rock, Grunge or Progressive. I feel they are closest to being a heavy progressive rock group. But don't look  to Almighty Love Noise as a replacement for Rush or Yes -- these guys are much more post modern. The lack of sinth and their pounding pre grung-ish Seattle-ish sound feels like a welcome change from the doldrums of contemporary, "heavy music."  The sound is a turning away from the hordes of, "borderline bands," those laughably attempts to mix melodic with heavy that tend to provide us with boring sounds. By borderline I mean a group that is heavy and pounding, but reserved where they need to be. This is the link between them and the progressive rock movement of the 70's. The thing that separates them from the early 90's grunge sound is the east coast feel that  is clearly underlying in their tunes.

The music they play is tight and well orchestrated. The clear and driving message behind the music is that Almighty Love Noise is going somewhere. The tunes are moving and inspiring, not the lyrics but the music. Not to take away from the lyrics which are equally well constructed and work to join and concrete the compositions. Almighty Love Noise is a band that has funny quirks. They seem to be as much friends as business partners and vice versa -- something that is clear from my short dealings with them. This is something that I think is missing from most bands. You get a band of friends together and all some people want to do is fuck off instead of practicing and the band suffers because no one wants to step on toes.  At the other end of the spectrum you have the corporate band, guys that only know each others last names and call each other mister. This isn't the case with Almighty Love Noise, if someone gets too out of line the rest of the band calls said member an asshole and everything is strait. They seem to blend well together. I guess that that's another thing that some of the progressive bands of the 70's missed -- hence the group, "Yes," there are two groups that tour under the name. I think that mentioning Pink Floyd here too wouldn't be a surprise.

So where did these guys come from? Swan's recorded backup vocals for Joe Lynn Turner of Rainbow and played gigs with Radiohead at "CBGB's," God Lives Under Water and Dave Matthews. Russo made a living playing the Blues and it shows -- the tight bass control exhibited is evidence of a proficient musician. Fready T., on lead axe, isn't from the New York area, in fact he moved there in 97 from Texas in hopes of landing a role with a rock band -- I guess it worked. John Clancy is a graduate of Berkley and pounds the beats out with other bands along with percussion duties as a member of Almighty Love Noise. Nami controls the other axe and has been on TV and in movies along with making Love Noise.

In the future I see only great music from these guys. An unwavering style that holds true to the nature of rock without being pompous and shallow. I hope that they may travel the country more, now they only hang around the New York area but I think that a national crowd would be able to appreciate their playing. They are willing to go as far as their cars are. Living in NY can be a hampering experience for some bands keeping them from being a national acts. In spite of this I feel that within a few years we may be seeing Almighty Love Noise playing in Bolder Col. or Albuquerque N.M. As long as they are willing to, "spread the noise," they should be well received everywhere. They say if you can make it in New York you can make it anywhere -- I say if you can make it out of New York you can make it anywhere.

My advise to you, the reader, go find the music and tell these guys what you think. If you dig it, let them know. Tell them to come to your hometown. Don't take my word for it. Go to IUMA and MP3.com and get their music. See for yourself that Almighty Love Noise rocks. If you dig Almighty love Noise, look bellow for a way to get in touch with the band.
