Welcome to Families Affected By Autism.
|
An e-source of information and support for families in the
Orange County, New York area.
|
|
When each
of our children were diagnosed with an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD),
we began diligent and difficult searches for information about autism.
After spending hours, days and weeks on the Internet, the telephone,
and networking with other parents, we found information about local
resources was extremely limited. So we decided to help other families
with relatives affected with an Autism Spectrum Disorder in the Orange
County, New York area (Rockland, Putnam, Dutchess, Ulster, Sullivan
counties in New York, Sussex county in New Jersey and Pikes county
in Pennsylvania) by creating this web site. Our intention is to provide
information about autism and local resources that are available while
helping to raise awareness about the disorder. |
|
We understand
that time is of the essence and that your children are your priority.
We hope that this web site will reduce the time that families spend
trying to find resources, obtain support, and educate themselves on
current Individualized Education Plan (IEP) guidelines. Time better
spent with your children. |
|
We want to
help families with issues related to services, education, medicine,
awareness, therapies, legislation, etc. And while we hope you find
the information we provide here or via e-mail useful, please do not
ever mistake our input as a substitute for medical or professional
advice. We strongly encourage you to seek the guidance of a professional
before you attempt any type of intervention. |
