Named after the great thinker and churchman John Henry Cardinal Newman, we are the Catholic Students' Association at UBC.  We try to fully integrate our lives as Catholics into the university setting and build up the Catholic Student community.

Community is the most important aspect of the Newman Club at UBC.  We come from all over campus and from all over the world, but we believe that our common faith connects us in communion with God.  This is a good reason to celebrate, since being in communion with God and each other give us the support and love that is God's gift to us.

The Newman Club operates under the observance of the Alma Mater society as a part of St. Mark's Catholic College.  There's an eight person executive elected every year which maintains some semblance of control, but mostly serves to plan and co-ordinate events and meetings.  The executive is especially excited to meet and welcome new members.

We're good friends with Life-Line, the pro-life club on campus and the new Chinese Catholic Students' Association, keeping each other up-to-date on what we're doing.  Our doors are open to anyone who wants to participate in our community: grad, under-grad, non-student, Catholic, or non-Catholic.

The Newman Club features weekly meetings which includes guest speakers, group discussions, social activities, prayer and bible study groups.  It also features social actions for the community which includes downtown soup kitchens, development and peace, pro-life.  Other social activities includes sport teams and events, ski and camping trips, movie nights, and talent night.
