| Philanthopy Service to Others |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| The brothers of Sigma Chi often are found partcipating in a wide range of philanthropic and charitable endevors. They are rcognized as individuals who seek to contribute something positive to their communities and the world. Internationally, then, it is no surprise that Sigma Chi raises the more money for service projects than any other Greek fraternity. This is especially significant when we consider that the Greek system is the largest network of volunteers in North America, and The Sigma Chi Fraternity is leading at the forefront! | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| UNICEF Haloween Pub Crawl | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Sigma Chi hosts with the ladies of Phrateres an annual Haloween Pub Crawl to collect money for UNICEF. All dressed up, we break off into groups, and visit practcally every nightclub in the Vancouver area, and gather donations for the Childrens Fund. Afterwards we all reconvene at the house for some social mingling and to celebrate our endevevour, even though it is practically all fun no work anyway. Additionally, usually over a thousand dollars is raised each night this is done! Here we are pictured below as a group before departure. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Phood Bus | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Another project with the women of Phrateres, we also put on Phood Bus in January. This is where we all make loads of sandwiches and distribute them to the Union Gospel Mission on Vancouver's downtown East-side, for those less fortunate then ourselves.Traditionally this is followed up with a bar party exchange. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| In addition, it is normal for Sigma Chi's to help at soup kitchens, donate blood, or throw bar parties to raise money for charitable causes, in addition to many other activities that benefit others. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| We Also Proudly Support and Participate in Other Philathropic Events Such As: | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Every year, the 24 Hour Relay in Vancouver helps send over 1300 children with disabilities to one of the Lions Society of BC’s three Easter Seal Camps. There, they attend a 6-day session at no cost to the family. Naturally, Sigma Chi joined with friends in organizing a team to help raise money. Everything from car washes to bar parties were conducted to gain funds for the cause, and then of course it was run. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| CIBC: Run for the Cure | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| The Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation’s CIBC Run for the Cure is the single largest, nationwide fundraising event of the year, in support of the advancement of breast cancer research, education, diagnosis and treatment.This year a couple of our very own Sigma Chi alumni were helping lead the organization of this huge event in Vancouver. It was no surprise then, that after midnight and into the early hours of the morning, Sigma Chi undergraduates could be noticed helping set up at B.C. Place Stadium. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Every year on one morning there is a pancake breakfast, held by donation, in the SUB Partyroom. It's prupose is to raise money and awarness for the "White Ribbon" campaign. This is the continual struggle, for the ending of men's violence against women. Sigma Chi is a proud supporter of this, and we consider ourseles a part of the "men working to end men's violence against women." Funds will support women's groups that address the issue of violence against women and services for abused women. Sigma Chi has always supported this cause, and has been instrumental in helping host this event now for years. Sigma Chi's are alway contributing with a considerable impact, in volunteering time and effort, to making this annual event a success. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Order of Omega: Songfest | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Songfest has been a Greek tradition at UBC for over 50 years, but had lain dormant since the early 1990s. In 2001, the Order of Omega orchestrated an extremely successful revival of this event, which proved even more popular in its second and third years. Sorority and many of the fraternities prepare and rehearse acts from various musical theatre productions to present. Held on the last day of first term at the Norm Theatre in the SUB, they raise thousands of dollars for one of our favorite causes: the Children's Hospital Foundation. Sigma Chi has been a part of this revival each and every year, and will undoubtedly continue to support it strongly. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Shinerama | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Shinerama is a national student-run fundraiser for the Canadian Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. The UBC Shinerama campaign takes place throughout September, as part of the first-year orientation activities. Last year's UBC Shinerama activities included shoe shining, lollipop sales, car washes, carnival games, contests, Beach Fest, a bookstore round-up, Spam-eating and much much more. The campaign is run by a talented team of student leaders, with the support of their dedicated volunteers, and Sigma Chi's are proud to help as a part of this drive. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Crescent Cleaning is a fundraiser held every year to raise money to send girls to camp. The ladies of GPB encourage the fraternities on campus to sell as many raffle tickets as possible. Prizes include gift ceritificates, gift baskets, spa packages and clothing. The Grand Prize is awarded to the fraternity that has sold the most tickets. That prize is a head to toe cleaning of their fraternity house by the ladies of Gamma Phi themselves. Sigma Chi won this once again, we raised the most money in ticket sales for this philanthropy event, and here are the girls and us cleaning! | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Delta Gamma: Anchor Splash | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Anchor Splash is a huge philanthropic event hosted by the sisters of Delta Gamma at the Aquatic Center every year. It sees members of the Greek System competing in swimming races. The fraternities also put on skits in front of everyone in a competition called Mr. Anchor Splash. Sigma Chi is always there, if we are not winning the races, we are supporting the event in full force. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
