Scott McLean
Scott McLean received a Ph.D. from UC Santa Barbara. He is a lecturer in Comparative Literature. He began his college career in fisheries biology, but later changed his field of study to German language and literature and wrote a dissertation on "the Revision of Wilderness in Freidrich Holderin's Late Poetry." He teaches a variety of courses for Comparative Literature, and co-teaches two Nature and Culture courses. His publications include articles on the 18th-c. German poet Freidrich Holderin as well as on modern literary figures Gary Snyder and Norman Maclean, and he is a published poet himself. He is the editor of the The Real Work, and collection of interviews and talks with Gary Snyder, and he is currently working on a new book called Poetry and the Land, and on a new collection of translations from Holderin's poetry.
