Wheelis received his Ph.D. from UC Berkeley in Microbiology. He is a senior lecturer at UC Davis in microbiology. His research at present is focused on the control of biological weapons and the history of biological warfare. He teaches courses in introductory biology, microbial diversity and metabolism, and Nature and Culture 100. Co-author of The Cartoon Guide to Genetics and of several microbiology textbooks, he is currently working on an introductory microbiology text and a comprehensive history of the 14th century Black Death. |
