9/10/01 -- I can't believe that I've been home for almost a month. What
have I done with the time??? I guess I spent the beginning going to the beach
a lot and bumming around with friends and family. My little brother is doing
really well and it makes me very happy to see him get more and more healthy
every day (he was diagnosed with leukemia last December.) I've also started
working at the CTO at UCLA again and I'm also going to be working in the Vice
Provost's office starting in about 2 days. I do have a few things that I still
want to do this summer: hiking, spend a couple days in the library, try and
be artistic, go to a concert, rock climb, learn to do a chinese kick up better,
salsa dance, be a tourist in LA, write down my summer memoirs, etc. Quite a
working list I do have to say...
In any case, I guess the update is that I've put more pictures up online (yay!)
and I also plan to do some sort of revamp of this page and add some more stuff
like more pictures, bio info, links, etc. I'm still trying to think of a new
design or layout but I'll probably just keep it looking a lot the same as this
for now. Anyway, check out the pictures!
8/18/01 -- ACE filed chapter 7!!! (Liquidation bankrupsy) Yes, I was
stranded at Stanford after working for the "stable" company for 7 weeks. It
was a horrible experience for me. In any case, I'm back in LA for the rest of
the summer and am looking forward to starting my second year at UCLA in late
September. For now though, I need to be looking for a job since I am not going
to be paid for the last 3 weeks of work for ACE!! (yes, I know it really sucks
but unfortunatly there is nothing I can do about it) If anybody has any (legal)
advice or know of any cool job openings let me know!
This is an article that appeared in wired magazine about the
unexpected collapse of ACE.
Also, I'd like to say that what happened is truly horrible because not only
did a lot of hard working people not get paid but the company's servers are
not up anymore so all of the kid's hard work is gone. Thinking about the entire
thing makes me feel sick actually. Luckily, being home in Torrance and
finally getting to relax and spend time with my friends and family at least
partially makes up for what has so far been a horrid summer.
Also, I decided to get rid of the (stupid) carrot and I did a little work on
the HTML page.
8/1/01 -- Added some helpful links and revamped the My Students Area (Check it out!) - Alas, I have given in to the tempting Dreamweaver gods... (sorry!)
7/25/01 -- Just fooling around with some javascript (as I hope you noticed!)
BTW, sorry if you think my little effects are lame (cough, cough, Hugh...) but
I think they are COOL!
"THE GREAT CARROT DEBATE" - I'm debating whether or not to keep or ax the "COOL
carrot" at the bottom of the page... go ahead and Sign
My Guestbook or e-mail me and
tell me what you think (among other things)!
Also, look forward to more cool stuff... like some downloads of some
of the programs that my kids have made and also a links page! (e-mail
me your website address if you want to be linked!)
7/13/01 -- In order to run programs created by visual basic on your
computer, you may need Microsoft's DLL file. Download it
here.
I'm still in the process of adding (A LOT) more photos to the photo section of my site...
In the meantime... check out this New York Times article on the ACE Stanford camp (Jeremy was MY kid!)
