On behalf of all the players and officers, welcome to the Hockey Club of UCR. Founded in Fall 2002 by President Philip Hehn and Vice-President Ruben Fernandez, we had an ambitious vision of bringing the thrill of victory to the University of California Riverside and to spread the popularity of hockey. Hockey is truly a very unique sport. There is no other game that requires commendable coordination, strength, speed, finesse, situational awareness, teamwork, strategy, conditioning, and intensity, in order to excel. Unfortunetly, most of these gleaming qualities do not translate well on television. The good news is that there is a public consensus that most people that watch a game in person become hooked for life. With the core of the team made up of highly talented players with experience playing at elite levels, fellow Highlanders can only expect to see a highly competitive team that proudly represents the university at collegiate events. Having the honor to don the school colors of blue, white, and gold is taken seriously within our organization. We will not only be winners in the rink, but outside of it as well. Every single member of our club are expected to be good-standing citizens and students. Our goal is to consistently contend for a championship and to play in the Nationals. Of course, none us this will be easy; anything worthwhile isn't. We have just started our first small steps, but trust me: this is just the beginning.
