A MOMENT WITH OUR MINISTER

"IF WE HAVE DONE WELL, PLEASE RING THE BELL"
There is a restaurant Ellie and I eat in once in a while. We find their special of fish and chicken quite tasty. The restaurant is Long John Silver's.

After the meal, and one is leaving, at the door is a bell that can be rung if "we have done well". Since I feel that way, I try to "ring the bell".

Experience tells us that each of us appreciates some one letting us know that "we have done well". Can you imagine what it would be like to go through life without ever being told that "you have done well"?

I understand that there are those who go through life without any person saying "you did well". What prompted Long John Silver's to come up with this idea, I don't know. And I have noticed that not everyone "rings the bell". My temptation is to follow that person and ask why don't you think your server "did well"? I'm sure one would find the responses to be very interesting.

While Long John Silver's restaurants probably did not take their idea from the Scriptures, the Scriptures are supportive of the idea, although nothing is said about "ringing the bell".
Matthew records the words of Jesus when Jesus said, "Well done, good and faithful servant . . . enter into the joy of your master. Well done, good and faithful servant . . . enter into the joy of your master" (Matthew 25:21, 23).

How often we will hear the words, "well done", only our life experiences will tell us. My goal is that I may, by God's grace, hear the Judge of all the earth say to me, at the end of life's journey, "Well done, good and faithful servant . . . enter into the joy of your master".

If we are willing to give our lives completely to Jesus, we will get to hear those most wonderful words. Are there changes in your life that you know you need to make to hear those words at the end of your journey of life? I urge you to be faithful and let God help you make those changes today.

your friend and Pastor, John
