A MOMENT WITH OUR MINISTER

I thought Ellie and I had found a way to conquer one of the annual frustrations of Christmas, but...

The Robert H and Nellie Moore family always managed to make one part of Christmas significant. Though money was not plentiful, my parents always provided a beautiful Christmas tree. And the Christmas tree beauty was accented by bright, colorful lights.

This year, Ellie and I decided purchasing a Christmas tree would be a simple, non frustrating, easy, relaxed experience. We would purchase a 6- 7 foot "artificial" (natural looking) tree.

Both schedules were co-ordinated and our search began. This simple buying process became complicated because there were so many different kinds of trees. Reminded me of the hunt for the "right" tree in a Christmas tree forest or a pre-cut group of Christmas trees for sale.

There was a new discovery, at least by me. A "pre lighted" tree is available. The lights are already placed on the tree in a balanced fashion. Choices of colors of lights, all red, all white, variety of color. And the tree boughs fold up for storage. No more sticking of branches into the artificial trunk.

We made a decision to buy a life-like tree, 6- 7 feet tall. We would string the lights and place the decorations on the tree.

And then reality happened. This was not a time-saving, simple Christmas tree. Each branch had to be unfolded before placing the branches into the color coded trunk. However, there may be a redeeming feature.

For $1.99 more, We purchased a LARGE garbage like plastic bag to place over the decorated tree. The decorated tree can now be stored by placing the plastic bag over the tree. But remember to use duct tape to tape the three sectioned trunk. And, if the tree stand is collapsible, duct tape it too.

Or would it have been better to have purchased a "live" Christmas tree, and pick up needles most of the coming year?

God did a wonderful thing, didn't He, sending His only begotten Son into the world? Each year brings anew , wonderful experience as we celebrate.

Ellie and I wish for each of you, a wonderful, Christian Christmas. THANK YOU for ALL you have done for us and for the privilege of being

your friend and Pastor, John
