A MOMENT WITH OUR MINISTER

$300-400, $250, $30-40. How much would you be willing to pay to get squeaking brakes"
to stop "Squeaking"?

The frustration with brakes "squeaking" started as I drove to the
Billy Graham Evangelism seminar in Denver. I took the car to a brake
specialist in Denver, recommended by my younger daughter.
The brake work they wanted to do was more than I felt
needed to be invested. Besides it is quite a distance to go from
Michigan to benenfit from a validated warranty in Denver.

An execellent mechanic friend checked the brake"squeak" problem.
"That's what happens when you use "cheap" brake pads. You have to decide if
you want to put up with the "squeak" or spend $300-400.,and have
no 'squeak"'. Truth spoken by friends is sometimes very direct.
(Breake pads were changed by former owner).

I stopped by a nationally known brake and muffler shop. The mechanic took
off the wheels and examined the brake pads. The "squeak" was
coming from the rear brake pads. For about $150 or more, he
could fix the problem. Too much, I felt.

There was another "Brakes" shop where I was making a pastoral call at the hospital.
The mechanic there could make an appointment and take
care of the problem. Cost:$30-40.

Since the oil needed to changed, I checked the "Shopper's Guide" and found a
special, l2miles from Union City, in Goldwater. I needed to make
a pastoral call at the hospital and made an appiontment with the
mechanic. Following the oil change, I told Ray about the "squeaky"
brake problem. He understood and knew what to do. I asked him
to do the procedure. He said somehting about reversing something,
with brakes. Stated that it might be two or
three days before there was much of a difference. I asked about
the added charge. There was none. Total bill, $15.97.

There is a muffler leak. No loud noise but, could be a monoxide problem.
Guess who is getting the job?

If Jesus were here in person. I think He would affirm my tenacity with the
"squeaky" brake scenario Check me out. Take your Bible and
read the parable Jesus told "unto them". Dr. Luke is the only
writer of the Gospels who gives us this parable.

Hopefully you will apply it in your Christian journey with Christ (Luke I 8:1-7)

0, Yes, I'll let you know "the rest of the ("squeaky" break)
story (Paul Harvey) in the Auqust Circuit Rider.

your friend and Pastor, John
