A Moment With Our Minister

"STAND BACK. I'M PROTECTED BY . . ."

I had to make a stop at the Mall. As I walked from the Mall to my car I touched another car for extra walking balance. To my surprise an alarm was set off and a voice warned me to "stand back. I'm protected by . . ."

We are living in a time when protection seems to be a priority. It is not uncommon to have two locks for locking the front door of our homes - a regular lock and a "dead-man" lock. The thief breaks the glass window and by-passes both locks.

I was seated in a Church attending a funeral. As the funeral service was in progress, there was an interruption. It didn't really affect the service, but one could hear a car alarm, with intermittent beeps, going off.

There are different kinds of protective alarms, as you know, for automobiles. The car horn blows as you punch a button. The lights start flashing on and off. Lower and higher, intermittent sounds are set in motion. But a recorded voice warning one to "stand back" a new one for me.

Not one of us can ever have enough protective devices to keep us from encountering every kind of harm there is. Consequently we hear many stories about fears in life experiences.
One of the blessings we have as children of the true God, is that He is our Protector in daily life. Few things we own are protection proof. "The eternal God is your refuge and underneath are the everlasting arms" (Deuteronomy 33:27a (KJV). Great protection! May this be your experience, is my prayer.

your friend and Pastor, John
