A MOMENT WITH OUR MINISTER

KEYS

They are part of our life. If you are a person who has never lost or misplaced a key, CONGRATULATIONS!

My key problem was not misplacing or losing one. Not a key to the parsonage. Not a key to the car, important as those keys are. The key to the Church was my frustration. My problem was that I could not get the key to work every time. Try as I might, there was no consistency. Add to that frustration the winter weather. Unlock? Terribly difficult. Lock? Usually difficult, also. So I never knew when I tried to unlocked the east entry to the Church (Fellowship Hall, Church office, Pastor's study, kitchen, restrooms) if I would get in.

And leaving was also frustrating. One of the unpardonable sins of the Church is to be responsible for unlocking, and locking, the Church, only to leave it UNLOCKED. Don't ever be guilty of leaving the Church unlocked!

God, or one of His representatives will get you for sure.

I spoke to the Chairman of the Church Trustees, Dale R., who is a very able and experienced person. He has no problems with Church keys. Though embarrassed to do so, I told him of my dilemma. Guess what? As you have already guessed, the Church key worked for Dale. Why would the key work or him and not for the Pastor? It was an EXPERIENCED key. It should work.

"Why not replace the lock?" I suggested. Dale didn't perceive that as necessary. He then made a suggestion and followed through with appropriate action. Dale took my key and gave me his. What a decision! Dale's key has never failed. To my knowledge, my key is not failing Dale.

Are you having key problems in life? Do you need to enter a door or lock a door to a problem? The key you are using is not working and you know it's not. I urge you to seek the One Who has a key to all of life's problems. He can change your frustration(s), your unlocked opportunities, and help you to enter a new or different door.

He will change your frustrations into a new perspective on life. Jesus said to "come unto me, all of you . . ." Read Matthew 11:28-30. A great "key" to life.

your friend and Pastor, John
