Why not do it the "write" way?
Doctor Jeremiah is a Pastor who has a radio program. In a sermon he spoke about doing thing the "write" way. Reasons were
presented and an appeal made to concerned Christians to practice doing things the "write" way. I agree with Dr. Jeremiah in his
appeal.
I was privileged to do some class work at Western Theological Seminary, Holland, Michigan. The finest Old Testament scholar
I have had the privilege of learning from, practiced this principle. His name, Doctor John Piet. Dr. Piet had been a missionary to
India. He continually had contact with editors of leading magazines. His response to an article he agreed, or disagreed, with
was do it the "write" way. Dr. Piet's life was made very rich because of his practice.
I imagine none of us escapes guilt by not having done it the "write" way. I admit my guilt. How many times have we failed to
acknowledge a kindness, a meaningful favor, an experience of help in a desperate time of need and failed to do it the "write"
way?
Claims to busyness, pressures of life, filled to overflowing schedule, interruptions of life, deadlines, being tired, frustrated, ad
infinitum. Each of us has 24 hours in each day, some hours of which we have control. We decide the priorities.
Surely each of us has had the experience of receiving a personal note from someone to whom we have extended a kindness.
Responding the "write" way is the most effective response. My writing has been evaluated in this way, "If it took poor writing
(penmanship) to make a Doctor, you would really make a good one." That doesn't give me an excuse to not do it the "write
way.)
Have you ever tried to figure out how many multitudinous hours it took the Apostle Paul to write all of the letters he wrote to the
Churches he was responsible for? We only have the recorded ones. It is possible there were many more. He had no
word-processor, spell-checker or computer. From his Christian heart the letters were penned. Thank God that the great
Apostle did it the "write" way!
What if Moses had not done it the "write" way? We must not forget the discipline it took those great Christians to give us the
Holy Scriptures. We forever remain in their debt for doing it the "write" way.
Will you join with me in asking God to help us to do it the "write" way? Think of what a difference the "write" way would make
in my and your world!
your friend and Pastor, John
