A MOMENT WITH OUR MINISTER

Rev. John Moore

MARCH 2000

What an unlikely place to observe one of God’s
lowliest of creation, a sparrow. In a billion dollar
building?

Denver International Airport is probably the most
expensive and modern Airport in the world. The most
current technology and best known engineering have
combined to make this possible. Yet a lowly sparrow
figured out a way to find it’s way in to this
sophisticated facility to look for a “crumb” of food.

The outside design of DIA is unique. White, and
glistening in the bright Colorado sky, are plumes
pointed upward to remind one of a snow-capped mountain
range. Inside are automated ski racks for skiers to
retrieve their skis after deplaning. Décor and
equipment remind one of modern times.

Seated with two of my children, we were waiting for a
plane departure, when this sparrow made its presence
known. What a surprise! Where did this sparrow come
from? And what brought it to a billion dollar
building? How did it figure out a way to get in here?
What made it think there might be a “crumb” of food to
satisfy it’s hunger?

Feel free to disagree with me. I think God got an
opportunity to remind His children of how He cares for
a lowly creature He spoke to us about when He was on
earth with us.

They, the sparrows, “shall not fall to the ground (to
look for a “crumb” of food) without your Father”.
Matthew 10:29a KJV Parenthesis mine. What a promise!
What a glorious thought!

Then Matthew adds these words, “Fear you not
therefore, you are of more value than many sparrows”.
Matthew 10:31 KJV

This month, March 12, begins a very sacred time in the
calendar of the Christian Church, Lent. We, in various
ways, remind ourselves of the sufferings of Jesus for
us. The price He paid for our salvation. All you do
during this time to help you draw nearer to Christ
will be honored by Him. He will not not notice you.

God bless you on your journey in Lent.

your friend and Pastor, John
