A Moment With Our Minister Everyone should have one", so you can be in the "loop". I walked in the kitchen from the study at the parsonage. Ellie was on the phone at the sink. At first I was surprised that she was using the phone, standing at the sink. It is several feet from the kitchen phone to the sink. Then it dawned on me. She and I were in the "loop" of this modern world of ours. I had been using my cell phone in the study. At the same time, she was using her cell phone in the kitchen. A real marvel! At long last, she and I had arrived. Maybe you don't get frustrated, but I do when it comes to cell phones. Most children of today advise their parents that unless they have a cell phone, they aren't connected to their (and our) world. And we are supposed to say, "you are right" and go out and buy a cell phone. Back to the frustration part. Ellie and I went together to what we understood to be a most reputable cell phone company. It starts with a "C". The sales representative was very cordial and helpful. He knew his business. The frustration? We can call all over most of the state of Michigan for no long distance charge. Wonderful! But, We can't call from certain places. The ceilings of the house or building(s) prevent two-way communication. "Joe" "Hello" "hello" "hello". Then Joe hangs up his phone. Try again. Something is wrong with Joe's phone. Wrong. It's my cell phone. Oh well, forget the cost, I'll call on a regular phone. Very clear connection. "Were you using a cell phone? I though so". The other scenario is the charging of the cell phone. A flashing red light and an audible signal lets you know that the cell phone needs charging. So one has to take the charger to the electrical outlet. Hook up the charging line to the cell phone and hope you remembered the charging instructions, or read the manual, which is always exciting reading!) Yes, Ellie and I will probably keep our cell phones. We don't want to run the risk of bring out of the "loop" of modern communications. After all we don't want our children to think we can't communicate in a modern world. Aren't you grateful you don't have to call God on a cell phone? How wonderful to know the reality that His ear is always open and that His eyes are never closed and the line is always clear. To communicate with God and His Son, Jesus, is NEVER a long distance charge. One never has to be in a conducive location to get through. How long since you put through a call (to God)? P.S. MOTHERS: We love you and greatest of all God loves you with an everlasting love. Thank you for seeing to it that we got into this wonderful world.your friend and Pastor, John
