A MOMENT WITH OUR MINISTER

Rev. John Moore

May 2002

"That's quite a burden you are carrying", I said to a friend. "But what a beautiful day to carry it", he responded.

It was a beautiful, warm Spring day earlier this month. I was waking across the parking lot to the Market, when I encountered my friend, Mike. Our meeting resulted in this brief exchange.

Mike's response resonated with me and gave me inspiration, resulting in this visit with you.

Just like Mike, each of us has a burden to carry. No one is exempted. Sad to say, there are those who only see, and feel, the weight of their burden. Others see the "Beauty" of the day.

I remember what a preacher friend said at a seminar. He was addressing Pastors. What "Bob" said was not intellectual or academic. Just one word, repeated three times n Attitude. Attitude. Attitude. " So impressive, I will never forget.

Lifes burdens. Life is made more difficult because of its unfairness. I have a choice to make. You also must choose. Do we look at the burden or do we look at the "great day"?

Being a Christian does not do away with the burden(s). Following and serving Christ is not done in a "fantasy world". Every Christian deals with reality. Jesus makes the, difference. Didn't He make the day? If He did, and I believe He did, can't He help us see the sun above the clouds (burdens)?

Jesus came to be our "Burden Bearer". "Casting all your care upon Him, BECAUSE He cares for you".

Practicing this Christian philosophy in every day life helps us to see the "day and not just feel the load of the "burden".

THANK YOU, LORD!
