A MOMENT WITH OUR MINISTER

November 1997
"Hello, John."

I was just getting into my Bronco II when a person drove up in his truck in the parking lot. Having something else on my mind, I hadn't noticed who was there. We didn't take time to visit. In a minute or two each of us went out way. However, that brief meeting was very meaningful to me.

The four years I was privileged to serve the Church where Larry's wife was an active member. Larry never attended. He was always friendly. We talked about high school Football team. Remembering how involved he was, I asked about the team and how the season looked. "I think we have a chance to go to State" he responded. Sounded like old times. Larry was always positive about the team.

Doesn't sound very religious so far, does it? But I think it is. Christianity is not always about button-holing a person to become a Christian or placing quilt on a person for not attending Worship. Paul the Apostle writes to us about the fact that some "plant", others "reap". Let us never forget that planting always results in some kind of harvest. Maybe not always what we pray for or expect, but there is always a harvest.

Just a happen-stance meeting in a large, busy parking lot? I don't think so. Just an opportunity to sow some seed. My responsibility is to be the "seed sower". God will take care of the harvest. An who knows when the "seed sowing" may result in a "harvest". Soon I pray.

God bless you with a great Christian Thanksgiving!

your friend and Pastor, John
