That is correct. It sparked my interest, too. Following a phone call

In these pre-Thanksgiving days let us return to what took place in the
earliest years of our American history. In the early 1620's, in New
England, there was a custom to place five grains of corn at every plate
as a reminder of those stern days of the first winter when the food of the
Pilgrims was so depleted that only five grains of corn were rationed to
each individual at a time.
It is next to impossible for most people in the present generation to
have any connection of understanding what a scene of scarcity is like. In
the nation of Haiti, the poorest people face this reality every day. All
of those who have been there can attest to the change one experiences.
Thursday, November 27th, is Thanksgiving Day. Other than Canada, no
nation in the world has this kind of national holiday. The State of Michigan
is reaping an abundant harvest of vegetables and fruits. Out west,
Arizona is having an abundant harvest of citrus, and I believe Florida as well.
Where does the Christian stand in relation to people with the
financial ability to be part of the five paws "Kitty Cat Bed-n-Breakfast" and the five grains of corn rationed to each person? We turn to the Holy Scripture
for guidance. Over 700 years before Christ, in the days of King Hezekiah,
God's people brought "thanksgivings into the house of the Lord. And the
congregation brought in sacrifices and thank offerings" (2 Chronicles
29:31b).
Are you willing to present to God a sacrificial offering, remembering
that 10% is already His? A real offering is above the tithe! God is the
recipient of our thanks(giving). Would He say you are thankful this
Thanksgiving season?
your friend and Pastor, John
