"FINANCE CHARGE(S)"
The power of suggestion has been proven to be very powerful. That is
one reason you and I receive, regularly, suggestions in the mail. Have you
ever read a letter with appeals to help a worthy cause or person?
Remember the feeling of guilt when you failed to respond or pay for
"the enclosed"?
"Pre-qualified for up to $50,000" the statement reads. Then follows,
after "Dear John L. Moore", "Just place the sticker on the form below"
…
"Plus, this card comes with no annual fee".
But be sure to read, and this is me talking, the enclosed fine print
titled "INITIAL DISCLOSURE STATEMENT".
Following this BOLD typed heading is A. 1. 2. B. 1. 2. and C. On
this post card size leaflet the words (in BOLD type) "FINANCE
CHARGE(S)" appear nine times. Closing section C. continues, "OTHER CHARGES".
No, I didn't take the time to read this side of the pamphlet. At the
bottom of the fine print are these words "(Please see other side)".
The heading reads "YOUR BILLING RIGHTS -- KEEP THIS NOTICE FOR FUTURE USE".
Much of the financial world is beyond my comprehension. Perhaps I
should be more of a student of fi-nance. Certainly we cannot live without
some form and medium of exchange. And the Scripture does not con-demn us
for learning how to earn money and to make a good living. So long as that
isn't "Where your heart is". Jesus tells us that where one's "heart"
is, that is where your "treasure" is.
A change of heart. A change of life. A life worth living. True
happiness. Sharing of every one of our burdens. Hope for the future.
The promise of an eternal home. A new name. All of these are offered
to us "without price". NO FINANCE CHARGE(S)!! No fine or BOLD print.
"Come unto Me, all of you who labor and are carrying heavy burdens, and
I will give you rest." Mat-thew 11:28.
Each of us has received a welcoming invitation from Jesus via the Holy
Bible. Time and people have proven the words of Jesus in Matthew 11:28
to be true. Thank the Lord there follows no A. 1. 2. B. 1. 2. or
C. You and I can take these inspired words at face value.
