MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT
What a Ball!! Those that missed the Presidents Day Ball really missed a treat.  We had a really good time. The atmosphere was pleasant and the band, very capable of their performance. And the goodies, the best that I have tasted in a very long time. First rate in my humble opinion.

I have come to enjoy living this group. The history we portray and the people whom we characterize or the ancestors that we have chosen to honor have become more real and tangible then if we were to just leave them on a bookshelf and collect dust.
As we take on their lives, their loves, their happiness and their sorrows, we become more aware of how these people really were like in many ways. We begin to see them in a different century light. They may even begin to speak to us from the other side of the Vail. We begin to feel their help in the research that we may do to get information accurate. We may begin to feel the presence of someone as we march through the trees or fields where they may have marched, or while knitting a pair of socks or sewing a shirt, dress or mending pants as we hum a familiar tune that they enjoyed.

Whatever the case, we know that what we are doing is a just cause and that they, whom ever “they” are, whether they are ancestors or not, are helping us in some way.

Whether we are re-enactors or living historians, it doesn’t matter. What does matter is the fact that we enjoy what we do. WE ARE THE UCWA.

“Hold this ground at all cost.”
