The Picket Line
May 2003
New flowery scents strewed everywhere,
New sunshine poured in largesse fair,
"We shall be happy now," we say.
A voice just trembles through the air,
And whispers, "May."

Message from the President
My fellow Reenactors:

I would like to start off with an announcement about the Park. Please dress period for meetings in the park when the park is in full season May through September. Thank you in advance.

Over the past few months we have seen an increase in membership! Actually A BIG INCREASE in membership! I want to extend a warm welcome to all the new members, and their families.

Tracie Fielden will be in charge of the May meeting.

ARE YOU READY FOR SOME BASEBALL?? A gentleman at work (TSA) is
involved
with Civil War era baseball! He has shown interest in having us come to
watch, or play in some of the games -Period dress. So if you want to
see, or play some era baseball come out to Wheeler Farm Saturday May
3rd at 3:30.

Finally I want to extend a thank you to everyone in the group. After a
rocky start, this year has gone very well. The success of the meetings,
and events so far has because of each and every one of the members who
have taken time out of their schedules, and money from their pockets to
support the UCWA in its endeavors. THANK YOU

Special Announcement Concerning Civil War Days
This Is The Place wants to move in a different direction. So Civil War Days is moving to Camp Floyd on September 13th . Make no mistake, this is a GOOD move for the UCWA.
Plans for the move will start with the May monthly meeting, and continue with the Camp Floyd event on the 17th. All plans will be finalized in time to print in the June Newsletter. This will enable us to get the band, and take care of any other loose ends that pop up.
