The ISG Talisman Thermal Imager was purchased through a donation from the Degenstein Foundation. It has been in service since early October 2000 and has been used at several fire scenes to check for fire extension and aid in the overhaul process. The imager has the capabilites to transmit an image to a monitor mounted in Engine 7-1 for the incident commander to monitor. It has a built in temperature gauge, allowing firefighters to monitor temperatures inside a building. This helps them locate and extinguish hidden fire, which reduces the amount of damage required to locate and extinguish fire without the aid of a thermal imager. The imager is a valuable asset to the fire department and the community. |
