Harpist Shannon Chieh has won critical acclaim around the world.
Birmingham News called her " A virtuoso soloist with graceful and legant touch" San Antonio Express News also acclaimed her as " A harpist with ravishing musicianship. Her artistry is built on a stonishing fluidity of execution, urgency of rhetoric, naturalness of phrasing, authority of gesture and an inerrant sense of timing. "

Shannon received the Bachelor of Music degree from National Taiwan Normal University, where she studied with Sophie Clavel. She then earned the Master of Music degree and Artist Diploma from Indiana University under the tutelage of Distinguished professor Susann McDonald. Shannon has also studied privately with Catherine Michel in Paris during her one-year and half stay. In 1993-94, Shannon was the principal harpist with Knoxville Symphony and held the same position with San Antonio Symphony from 1994-96. In 1998-99 Shannon was selected by taiwanese government as official artist representative at Cite des Arts in Paris, France where she performed regularly and participated in some musical theatre productions.

Shannon Chieh has appeared in the United States, Europe, Russia and Asia, including her native Taiwan where she now holds the position of Principal Harp with the National Symphony, Taiwan since 1999. She has also featured as soloist with San Antonio Symphony, Aspen Orchestra, Knoxville Symphony, Indiana University Orchestra, Soka International Harp Festival Japan, Gehart Chamber Music Festival Alabama, World Harp Congress in Paris (1990) and in Prague (1999) as well as all the professional orchestras in Taiwan.

Shannon has also released two solo recordings since 1995 under Eliot/ BMG label. On June 2000, she was presented by "Artists International" for her New York debut recital at Weill Recital Hall in Carnegie Hall. Shannon was also invited to Hong Kong in July 2000 as the harp instructor for the Asain Youth Orchestra.

Despite her busy schedule with orchestra and solo performances, Shannon has also taken an interest in harp education. She is now the lecturer of harp in Taiwan Normal University and the president of Taiwan Harpists Association, which holds concerts and masterclasses regularly for young harpists in Taiwan.
