Jesus commanded his followers to cast out devils
There are a few things you should know before attempting this.
First off, You had best be saved, and filled with the Spirit, I mean definitely baptized in the Holy Ghost, not just doctrinally thinking so. And be anointed by the Spirit; If you think the anointing is not present enough, pray for it and trust and look for it to come upon you as you continue.
Also, you should be led of the Spirit. Do not just go around thinking you are casting out devils everywhere, just because you 'think' everything is demonic; Dont get caught up on devil mentality, that can open the door for you to unwittingly give place for devils upon or into you.
Once you have Spiritually discerned that an individual has been possessed; If there are others around who are not under the same spiritual discernment, or others who are not yet strong in the Lord, or could be in sins, or even if others are fascinated; get these people away first, and speak a prayer hedge of protection around them.
And you yourself must be free from sin.
Now, with all that taken care of, Do not lay hands on the person with an evil or unclean spirit; Just speak the words, knowing of whose authority you speak. Bind the devils in Jesus name. We have authority from God to bind on earth and it will be bound in the heavenlies(the spiritual world)
Dont argue with a spirit. It is helpful to inform the person that they are not to take this personally, that it can seem like their own mind or emotions, but those things are taken captive by the spirit.
If the person is not in agreement, inform the person that resisting will only prolong the process and make it harder on them. You can inform the person, that if they experience fear or pain, that they will not die; Only submit.
We have authority over spirits, and they eventually must obey in some way, but if the person is not in agreement, and rebels, it can prolong and even make it dreadful for the person. Nevertheless, we have power over spirits, and they can be cast out or forced out regardless of the person; Either way, the person must be taught and followed up with after the deliverance, not to be in rebellion or sin, lest a worse thing come on that person.
Sometimes you can detect the presence of a spirit in unusual behavior of the person. Like, if that person normally is not a braggart, and continues to excessivly brag and put others down; That can be a manifestation of a spirit. Continual rebellion, or sin, or any kind of unholy behavior; anger and violence can be demonic possession. But again, do not get 'witch hunt' mentality; be led of the Spirit. On the other hand, do not let human compassion stop you.
There are some that only come out by prayer and fasting; that means a very deep worshipful type of prayer in fasting.
After having bound every name of spirit you are made aware of, and commanding them to keep silent and come out; remind them that they have no will of their own on this matter, they must obey and come out. If there is persistant resistance, you can ask God to send an anointing upon the person, to surge the anointing through that person and force out the stubborn spirit.
Remind the spirits that Jesus triumphed over them by his blood and ressurrection. Warn the spirits you have authority to send them to the outer darkness.
A person can seem like they are in severe pain as the devils tear trying to resist, or can manifest as some animal or strange personality. Forbid them to speak and command that they come out.
The anointing on you, as you do a deliverance is very important.
Never forget to follow up ministry very closly after deliverance, and do not let the person think the devils wont try to return; But teach them to stand in purity and holiness, and to study the bible and pray, and to grow in the understanding of grace. You can forbid a devil to return, but they still need to be resisted by that individual, in authority and in holiness; For Christ gave authority and holiness is our Spirit.
Most churchs I ever saw doing deliverance only had manifested saliva.
What I'm instructing you, is, there are depths of evil spirits in power, that are so extreemly horrible in intensity of very quick violent spiritual terror which manifest to Attack you, that if you had begun by laying on of hands, you easily could have been injured physically.
Lay hands suddenly on no man; That's not just in reference to taking somone into the service of your ministry.
After quite some time , and you know that the worst of manifesting of spirits is cast or driven out, once you feel it is nearly over, you can lay on hands.
When you do this, laying on hands, you may find a few weaker spirits still in there, like the kind who occupy the brain to manipulate and inflict the head/mind. Bind it and cast it out.
Some of the manifested spirits Ive seen are so highly energized in power of spirit and instant fear of hatred and violence; You could be in big trouble, if you are not holy and filled of the Holy Spirit, and bold to battle; Or you could do anything from fainting to running away in fear, if you could even move. Some spirits are so very extreemly powerful with evil, that You had best not be laying on your hands, and be ready to stand and explode and break forth into great anointed Spiritual Authority of dominion of God, and blast that devil out!
If you do not know of a practicing fact you are Filled with the Spirit and holy, meet for the masters use; Dont attempt delivering or casting or forcing or driving out of spirits.
God is glorified by the strength of his foes. The more fearful and terrible the enimies of righteousness, the more glory God gets in triumph over them; But be ye not novices; wait on His leading.
Ok, now I want to say something seemingly contrary to before.
To those who become mature in Spirit in Christ Jesus, with anointing and the Holy Ghost; notice, in Luke 4:40&41 From Capernaum and from every place nearby, all that were sick with various diseases were brought to Jesus; "and he laid his hands on every one of them" notice the two things that happened "and healed them. And devils also came out of many,".
OK; All I taught before is a very good place to begin, but if God so leads you to jump in where Jesus was, then do so; But notice, this was done as in 'group ministry' . When you minister one on one, it is better to follow the former instructions in this page.
