UGA Morocco Summer Program, 2001
After leaving Marrakech and journeying to the east, the group ascended the High Atlas mountains, and after crossing desert wastes, they reached the oasis city of Agtz, an entrance point to the Dra valley (wadi). Here they gathered together with the Dra Valley behind them.
The group continued along the Dra Valley and again through vast stretches of desert and desert canyons. And then, around sunset, after managing to evade a number of barely controlled machines driven by half-mad desert road racers, the intrepid group of desert wayfarers reached their hotel in Zagora. After resting in the coolness of the night, they set out in the morning for Tamagrout and the Nasiriyya Sufi zawiya and manuscript library, which contains a rich collection of classical Arabic manuscripts. After receiving a tour of the collection by the librarian, the seekers of knowledge posed for a picture in front of the library.
