I went to my sister's choir
practice last night at their auditorium.
Huge high school. They have a grand marble stairway!
Well....there's one coming down either wall of the main entrance
and
a balcony connecting them.....*shiver*
I just thought very Jareth-esque, yanno? So here goes...
Jareth's first day at Dixon High.
Sitting on his throne, he sighed, rolling a crystal round his
hand.
The goblins had all gone out to play, or whatever it is that
goblins
do. The place was a mess, Jareth noted as he looked around,
his gaze
catching on a shiny folder.
Going and picking it up, he carried it back to the throne,
sifting
through the papers, coke-bottle glasses in place.
"Dixon Dukes and Dutchesses. Sounds like a fine
place."
Throwing his horribly over-sized cape on, he produced a box-like
crystal and transported to the front lawn of the school.
He gaped. It was bigger than his castle. And in so
many different
ways. "My goodness.....maybe I should move here."
That's when the buses started to arrive. Groaning something
about
children, he moved quickly into the front doors, where he stopped
dead in his tracks.
After a few moments of silence (and looking around in
disbelief), "NNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
All the teachers dropped what they were doing, one of them, the
chorus woman, rushing to the main entrance, assuming that a gang
had
actually come to school to maim a kid.
(People are stupid here!)
Jareth had climbed the stairs on the right before she'd gotten
anywhere near him, fortunately. He was now standing on the
balcony
adjoining the two stairways.
Luckily for him, none of the kids really noticed him. None
except
for those who were fortunate enough to annoy him with comments
like: "You look like David Bowie!"
and "Mr. Bowie! Sing a song to
cheer up the morning!"
Jareth growled at them, and they left in a hurry.
"What a freak."
Jareth swiftly moved to the spanish room, where students had
filed in
for their first lesson of the day, his appearance causing the
teacher
great alarm and worry. Mainly for the kids.
Moving to the back of the room, he sat quietly, surveying
everyone as
they stared at him. Thankfully, the teacher had spoken
rather
sharply, turning everyone's attention the other way.
He was sitting behind a redhead with very curly, shoulder-length
hair. She was a rather large girl. Big-boned.
Probably as tall as
himself.
Surprising Jareth, she turned around and smiled at him.
"My sis loves you!"
Jareth watched her, looking scared.
"Who's your sister.."
The redhead laughed and said quietly,"Jen....I know you know
her.
Her and the rest of her online friends. What was it
called.....the
UGL???"
At this Jareth winced, a few memories coming forward and making
themselves more than known.
"So....where's Teddy?"
Jareth scowled at the redhead. "You must be
Wart."
She glared at him. "Only bonebag calls me that."
"Who's bonebag?"
She shook her head, murmering, "Jen..."
(yes, those nicknames are the ones we actually use for each
other!)
At lunchtime, Jareth followed Wart (courtney) to Subway, where
she
bought him a six inch tuna on wheat with everything on it.
Hey. He ordered it. Didn't know what he was getting
himself into,
obviously, as he took the first bite and spit it back out.
Jareth followed her around for the rest of the schoolday.
Sometimes
even mocking the other students along with her.
The last bell rang, and Wart smiled a big smile.
"My mom and Chuck usually pick me up from school.
You're more than
welcome to come ride in the car with us!"
Jareth couldn't resist this chance. He'd only ridden in a
car once
before. And he was driving....(*shakes head* poor Jen
C.)
They made their way out the main entrance, and Wart spotted mom's
Park Avenue.
"C'mon. You'll enjoy who else they brought
along!"
Jareth had a rather sickening feeling wrench his stomach.
As they neared the car, he saw a figure in the backseat, but
couldn't
quite make out who it was. Until he got in next to it.
"HEY J!!!!"
Jareth smiled nervously. It was Jen. And she was
driving her
mother's car.
"Hey Wart. Mom and Chuck are at the house.
They're putting the
armoir together," Jen said as she pulled out of the
space and drove
off with Jareth in the front seat, Wart in the back.
Once out of the car, Jareth looked around. They were in a
private
area. (Lost Nation in Illinois is a resident-only kinda
place. They
have toll-booth like things that have the little bars that raise
up
with cameras all around it.)
He turned around as Jen got out of the car with her purse, and
almost
smiled.
"Well. It's nice to see you again. How long has
it been? Since the
baseball game?"
Jen shrugged, smiling a bit as she led him into the ranch home.
Jareth was rather startled by the three large dogs barking at
him.
But the two labs warmed up to him as soon as he sat down.
The
dalmation, tho, was still growling.
"Don't worry about Holly. She's all bark and no
bite."
Jen went into the kitchen where Jareth had taken a seat at the
booth-
like table and pulled out some snack-meats.
Wart had disappeared downstairs into the basement (which is now
her
room which is where I'm writing this from on her computer!) and
reappeared with her Labyrinth video case.
"Could you sign my copy?"
Jareth looked slightly unnerved but signed the video case anyway.
Jen had set a plate down in front of him with a sliced peach on
it.
"I didn't go to culinary classes for nothing. I even
sliced it to
look pretty for you. I know how much being pretty means to
you."
She smiled mockingly at him.
After about an hour, Tina (bonebag and wart's mom) came into the
kitchen for some tea. She stopped in her tracks as she saw
Jareth.
"Jareth, eh?"
He looked at her, a bit surprised.
Jen laughed and told Jareth,"we watch the movie a lot."
Jareth smiled a bit and disappeared, leaving Jen very annoyed and
disappointed.
"I'll get you, J. Watch your back."
