UHEXSO Moody Gardens Dive Program

Moody Gardens

UHEXSO's ongoing dive program at Galveston's Moody Gardens Aquarium 900,000 gallon Caribbean tank continues. Via this program, we are able to dive our finest operational hardhat gear in the Aquarium's tank for the enjoyment and benefit of Aquarium visitors. Moody Gardens is a major tourist attraction on Galveston Island, Texas, hosting a rain forest, aquarium, and a variety of exhibits. Dives are scheduled quarterly, with special events optional. Dates will be posted on our UHEXSO Events pages.

Our first dip occurred in late 2000 during the premier of "Men of Honor" the true story of Carl Brashear, Navy Master Diver. Our dive program includes a special feature: two-way radio communications direct between the diver and visitors! With the supervision of a trained tender, visitors are allowed to use our authentic Navy dive radio to ask the diver questions or just say "Hi!". They are also treated to live commentary from the diver, including some tall tales.

Our team usually dives with the USNavy Mark V, designed in 1914. Our gear was built in 1943 and 1944.
