From the Earth ...
UK for Aurora
The UK had to decide on an interim payment for the ESA Aurora programme by 30 September 2004.   On 1 October, Lord Sainsbury announced the UK would indeed make this contribution, but that isn't the end of the story.  This year, we have to decide at what level the UK will sign up to the next part of this project - a 5-year phase to begin in 2006.
Why should the UK  be involved in Aurora?
What can you do to help it happen?
Aurora is a long-term programme from the European Space Agency for the exploration of the Moon and Mars.

Its support comes primarily from the ESA member states, but a change in the timing of the project meant that a decision was needed on an interim payment by 30 September 2004.

Although a positive decision was reached, further action is needed to ensure a UK commitment to the next full 5-year phase, due to begin in 2006.

One aim of this website is to help raise public awareness of Aurora and the benefits for the UK of involvement in the programme.
The other aim leads on from that - to encourage people to help gain support for that involvement by writing to those in the decision-making process, expressing their own support.

These pages
- provide background information on Aurora
- include links to other sites

- say what you can do to help.

Please e-mail me with any comments or to arrange a presentation on Aurora.
My next presentation is at the Guildford Astronomical Society  on Thursday 6 Oct.
