1/ KI DO seminar in Sawtry
Mark,
I have re-done my mind map, hope its ok.
Great seminar today, although as you said, we only covered 1%, I feel like I have learned a hundred things. I felt great and full of energy when I got home, the down side to this was I found myself doing house work without thinking :o( . All that looking and blinking while stretching must have helped as my side kick was half a foot higher than normal, (found this out when one of the dishes fell of the side as I was washing up).
Just now, I was feeling a bit of tension building up around T1-T3, as I have no-one to give me a bear hug, I don't know what made me think of this, but I tried the first two moves from Sah Dan, the open hands bit, and my back cracked in the right area....feel good now! :o).
Looking forward to the 2nd %.
Cheers, Sav.
Hi Master Adlington,
Thanks for the Ki Do Seminar this afternoon, it was very interesting and has
certainly given Robin and me something to think about. I still can't get
over how strong you felt getting out of that bear hug...that was very
impressive!!!!
Cheers, Paul.
2/ Feedback from Wednesdays class.
"How's the shoulder?"
The warming effect that you placed in my shoulder yesterday, made a big difference.
It feels normal, but quite possibly stronger than it was before.
Those energy exercises worked a treat to during the lesson, they had an effect that I have never experienced before, I felt very light weight, and having to put little if any effort into the forms.
I noticed as we did more exercises by the time we got to the 5th form I was flying?
I was wide awake by the time we left the lesson, and didn't sleep till about 1am it had I suppose you could say a Redbull effect?

3/ A bane of many visitors to developing countries could help scientists in their fight against cancer. According to a report published online this week by the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, the bacterium responsible for so-called traveller's diarrhoea can halt the growth of cultured colorectal cancer cells.
Colorectal cancer is the fourth most common type of the disease worldwide, but its distribution is not uniform. Instead, it strikes predominantly in industrialized nations. Developing nations, in contrast, have lower colorectal cancer rates and higher incidences of intestinal E. coli infections. Noting this inverse relationship, Giovanni M. Pitari of Thomas Jefferson University and his colleagues tested a toxin produced by E. coli on human colon cancer cells. They found that cell growth slowed shortly after exposure to the toxin. Specifically, the researchers determined that the toxin suppressed a previously unrecognised signalling pathway within the cells. They suggest that this pathway could provide a novel target for preventative and therapeutic treatment of colorectal cancer. --Sarah Graham
4/ To sleep, perchance to file? Findings published online this week by the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences further support the theory that the brain organizes and stows memories formed during the day while the rest of the body is catching zzz's.
Gyorgy Buzsaki of Rutgers University and his colleagues analysed the brain waves of sleeping rats and mice. Specifically, they examined the electrical activity emanating from the somatosensory neocortex (an area that processes sensory information) and the hippocampus, which is a centre for learning and memory. The scientists found that oscillations in brain waves from the two regions appear to be intertwined. So-called sleep spindles (bursts of activity from the neocortex) were followed tens of milliseconds later by beats in the hippocampus known as ripples. The team posits that this interplay between the two brain regions is a key step in memory consolidation.
A second study, also published online this week by the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, links age-associated memory decline to high glucose levels. Previous research had shown that individuals with diabetes suffer from increased memory problems. In the new work, Antonio Convit of New York University School of Medicine and his collaborators studied 30 people whose average age was 69 to investigate whether sugar levels, which tend to increase with age, affect memory in healthy people as well. The scientists administered recall tests, brain scans and glucose tolerance tests, which measure how quickly sugar is absorbed from the blood by the body's tissues. Subjects with the poorest memory recollection, the team discovered, also displayed the poorest glucose tolerance. In addition, their brain scans showed more hippocampus shrinkage than those of subjects better able to absorb blood sugar. "Our study suggests that this impairment may contribute to the memory deficits that occur as people age," Convit says. "And it raises the intriguing possibility that improving glucose tolerance could reverse some age-associated problems in cognition." Exercise and weight control can help keep glucose levels in check, so there may be one more reason to go to the gym. --Sarah Graham

7/ International KI DO Association Update
Mr Bob Bass has 2 (No less) web sites for the International Ki Do Association.
The Ki Do Masters are putting together the requirements and producing the Ki Do badges.
New research is on going, new findings and applications are happening every day. This is going to be the most practical and exciting internal art ever! (Just like the last one LOL)
http://clik.to/ika here is the start of the new site (Info is all wrong as yet LOL)
8/ Message from Mr Klee in Delaware (IKA International KI DO Association)
Master Adlington,
I think the requirements you sent out are great. I got real excited reading it - just seeing all the stuff listed out was proof enough that there is sufficient content, relevance and uniqueness to the curriculum to justify formation of the IKA. It also became apparent that I am way behind on most of the material. I have to get over there.....

11/ Energetics of wheatgrass powder
After strength tests (Arm strength, centre lock etc.) 5 capsules of wheatgrass were ingested. The person was then re-tested, results:-
a/ Unable to pull hands apart (Without meridian circuit)
b/ Resistance to centre lock same as with heel raised
c/ Greater strength resisting hands being pushed together
d/ Unbendable arm with no energy flow down the arm
e/ Increased weight without rooting just intent
f/ Greater ability to perform empty force
g/ More power in wave form strikes
Long term effects (Days):-
a/ Increased hair growth
b/ Increased nail growth
c/ More energy
The wheatgrass capsules were broken open and mixed with water to speed things up and the tests were performed 10 seconds after ingestion. This up holds the aerial theory, the wheatgrass molecules act like little aerials and energise the body just like a stance or hand position does. For discount prices on wheatgrass contact Master Adlington (It is not wheat and so allergies are not a problem)
Next is to test out the "Sugars that Heal", new healing methods using essential sugars seem to be of great benefit to many sick people. The multi level marketing companies have got on the bandwagon and so over priced everything. Now if the sugar molecules are working as tiny aerials then we should be able to reproduce this energetically!
