3/ Smoking
If you've ever tried to quit smoking - as I have once or twice - you'll know that it's one of the hardest habits to break. But recently, I've been reading in The Independent about US scientists now reporting that certain cigarettes are more habit-forming than others. They have found that this is because of the amount of highly addictive "freebase" nicotine they produce and researchers at the Oregon Health and Science University in Portland say that some brands contain up to 20 times a higher level of "freebase" nicotine.
According to the study the levels ranged from 1-2% to 36% (this was for a well-known American Brand called American Spirit). Marlboro cigarettes were found to contain up to 9.6% "freebase" nicotine, while Camel contains 2.7% and Winston 5-6.2%. According to the paper a spokeswoman for the Tobacco Manufacturers' Association in the UK said: "Cigarettes manufactured here ... may be quite different from those in America". So if you're trying to give up - it could be worth changing brands. If you would like to find out more go to http://no-smoking.org
4/ Ki Do and some of its aspects
Neutralise the effects of EMF pollution and enhance your bio-energy field. As Electromagnetic Fields (EMF) disrupt and fragment the human energy field we feel:
*Stressed-out
*Drained of Energy
*Often Irritated
*Mood Swings
*Mind Chatter
Ki Do harmonically strengthens the human energy field and students report:
*Less Stressed-out
*More Energy & Vitality
*Centred & Grounded
*Clarity
*Body/Mind Integration
5/ Subtle energy research.
a/ Increasing power for kick techniques (MBB+)
b/ Increasing power for hand techniques (MBB+)
c/ Muscles give off energy when contracted and need energy to relax, this should help with flexibility if we have the correct energy available.
d/ Rooting down and rooting out.
6/ Thought for the day
To handle yourself, use your head.
To handle others, use your heart.

8/ From a Monk's point of view:
Chi
The power of our body is no match for the sheer force
of our intent.
As we understand the essence of Chi (pronounced
"chee") we come to appreciate what it means to build
our vital life force. Chi is the energy that keeps us
alive and healthy. Chi is our life force. It is
derived and generated from what we eat and drink. It
is a result of what we do and think. It is effected by
the people and environment all around us. It is molded
by the thoughts and intentions that we carry with us
from moment to moment.
The Shaolin monks understand this simplicity. Through
rigorous training of the body and mind, they seek to
build the quality of their Chi. In so doing, they
build their "Te" (pronounced "day") or integrity. Te
is how we are measured as a member of society. Society
perceives us from how we are measured by our friends
and family. Our friends and family see us through our
actions and words. Action and words are driven by our
thoughts and intentions.
As Chan Buddhists, the Shaolin monks spend much of
their time in quiet contemplation, cultivating inner
peace through sitting or slow moving Chi Kung
practice. This system of deep breathing and conscious
movement helps to bring focus and clarity to
intention. When the pattern of moods are broken, one
can act with balance and focus. With balance comes
objectivity that seeks the truth of all situations.
This is integrity, Te.
Applied to the martial arts, Te gives one honour. It
helps us to hone our skills with the focus and drive
to respect the history and legacy of the system we
study and practice. Te rarefies our Chi, refines the
essence of our energy. With this focus, we can direct
our flow of Chi and deliver powerful blows that defy
the physical effort behind them. It brings us into a
calm security with who we are and how we move.
Sparring from this centred space gives us true power.
Applied to everyday life, Te gives us confidence in
our actions and interactions with people. Knowing that
the quality of our thoughts affects those around us,
we seek to bring positive energy and joy to all
interactions. Chi moves within and through us, molded
by our intentions. It catalyzes and contributes to
those around us. Think of the times some negative
person comes into the room and everyone is brought
down with them. Then think of the time someone with
good energy arrives and your whole attitude changes
for the better. This is the powerful effect our Chi
has on the world.
The intention we carry in our head and heart is more
responsible for the outcome of an event than the
actions we take or the words we speak. Taking the time
to get in sync with our intention is a step toward
building Te. Moving from a conscious and sincere
intent with the hope of balance and compassion is to
live with Te.

9/ On the lighter side
A woman driver is pulled over by a policeman:
Woman: Is there a problem, officer?
Officer: Ma'am you were speeding.
Woman: Oh I see.
Officer: May I see your license please?
Woman: I'd give it to you but I don't have one.
Officer: Don't have one?
Woman: Lost it for drink driving four times.
Officer: I see...May I see your vehicle registration papers please?
Woman: I can't do that officer.
Officer : Why not?
Woman: I stole this car.
Officer: Stole it? Woman: Yes, and I killed and hacked up the owner.
Officer: You what?
Woman: His body parts are in plastic bags in the trunk if you want to see.
The officer looks at the woman and slowly backs away to his car and calls for backup. Within minutes 5 police cars circle the car. A senior officer approaches the car, clasping his half drawn gun.
Officer 2: Ma'am, would you step out of your vehicle please!
The woman steps out if her vehicle.
Woman: Is there a problem sir?
Officer 2: One of my officers told me that you have stolen this car and murdered the owner.
Woman: Murdered the owner?
Officer 2: Yes, could you please open the trunk of your car?
The woman opens the trunk, revealing nothing but an empty trunk.
Officer 2: Is this your car ma'am?
Woman: Yes, here are the registration papers.
The first officer is visibly stunned.
Officer 2: One of my officers claims that you do not have a driving license.
The woman digs into her handbag and pulls out her driving license and hands it to the second officer. He examines the license and looks quite puzzled.
Officer 2: Thank you ma'am, one of my officers told me you didn't have a license,
that you stole this car, and that you murdered and hacked up the owner.
Woman: And I'll bet the lying git told you I was speeding, too.
Moral of the story: Women. Don't mess with them.
